Our Rooki Beauty Review - you NEED to try this Japanese Beauty Brand!!

A few months ago, Rooki Beauty caught our eye and after perusing through their website - we were sold. Made in Japan, clean, packed with superfoods, cruelty free, vegan friendly...they ticked all our boxes! ✅ We KNEW we wanted to support the brand and we reached out to them to see if we could stock Rooki Beauty in Australia. We chatted with Hayley, their founder, and she is AMAZING 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♂️. We have so much respect for her and her growing company!  Jo (the reviewer!) Skin Type: Normal/Combination. Not acne prone or sensitive.  Goals: Brighter skin (need that glow!), anti-aging (😭) and hydration. Winter is here but hopefully not dry, flaky skin! Length of Testing: I used the products in my routine for a month Honey Matcha Cleansing Drops I don't know about you guys but I love honey and matcha to eat so I was completely drawn to this product. Honestly I'm a total sucker for anything green tea/matcha so any product that incorporates those, I will most likely try 😂 (like Krave Beauty's Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser and Peach & Lily's Matcha Antioxidant Pudding).  What is it? An intelligent, dual-action cleanser that preps your skin by first removing dirt and impurities, and then replenishing it with drops of nourishing Honey, omega-rich Chia Seeds and organic Uji Matcha. This innovative superfood cleanser is formulated with a gold-standard Vitamin C derivative - Ascorbyl Glucoside, that activates on contact with water. It also contains complexion-smoothening Lactic Acid to help you achieve that dreamy, lit-from-within glow, plus a rare biomimetic peptide that actively increases cell turnover and healing by inducing the synthesis of collagen and elastin in skin. Ingredient List That description completely had me sold. It pretty much ticked all my skin goals - glow, anti-aging and hydration (does that kind of rhyme?). Cleansing is one of my favourite skincare steps - it's the best feeling in the world after a long day to just wipe off your makeup.  The Verdict Routine Step: Used as a second cleanser, alternating between this and Krave Beauty's Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser for a few days to make sure my skin was agreeable with it, then replacing Krave for the next month.  A little bit goes a long way. I make the mistake of reading the instructions where it said to to use a "generous" amount and accidentally used too much and got some into my eye 😭 That was a painful lesson! I get worried with products that either have a lot of hype or expectations around them, only because I don't want to be disappointed in them. AND Rooki's products are quite expensive. Thankfully, this did not disappoint. It's definitely on my holy grail status of cleansers (it can sit beside Krave Beauty's Cleanser!) It definitely made my skin glow and has actually helped with a milia that I've had for ages on my cheek (within a day of using it, the milia was much smaller! I was so impressed). It's hydrating, leaves your skin clean (but not squeaky or rubbery clean - it leaves my skins smooth) and definitely adds that glow factor to my skin.  I've been pretty in love with the cleanser and torn between using this or going back to Krave. Decisions, decisions... It does have a bit of a "soap" smell that lingers afterwards that I wasn't too fond off but eventually did get used to. It reminded me of Dove's Body Soap Bar for some reason but thankfully it doesn't dry out your skin like soap. And after time, I think I got used to it so I stopped noticing lol. Green Pulp Paste Masque I was pretty excited about this one because a lot of people seemed to love it. It sounded absolutely fascinating with its gel to paste texture and the warming sensation. And on the plus side, it's in a tube packaging which I love because it makes it so much more convenient and less wastage.  I do have a confession to make - I get pretty lazy with masks. But I have recently started hair masking as well and thought that it was perfect because I can now do a whole pamper night with hair + skin mask then wash them off at the same time because I'm lazy efficient like that! Pamper yourself! What is it? Supercharge your skin with a youth-preserving masque made with our signature Green Pulp Paste™, an unprecedented blend of five key plant complexes steeped in beneficial free radical fighting antioxidants and phytonutrients like Lycopene, Beta-Carotenes, Polyphenols and Vitamin E. This intensively hydrating gel masque transforms into a smooth white paste when activated with massage, leaving your skin with an instant spa glow. Brightening Tomato Lycopene is supercharged with age-reversing Tea Polyphenols - revealing visibly plumper, younger and brighter skin in just one application. Did someone say glow? 👀 Just one application? 🤔 Is this possible?! The Verdict Routine Step: Used 1-2 times a week, whenever I felt like I needed a boost. Most importantly did it give me a glow after one application?  YES IT DID. I'm really in love with this product. The texture from gel to paste is fun to apply on your face and the mild warming sensation feels really relaxing. I honestly feel incredibly fancy whenever I put this mask on. It left my skin glowing, smooth and supple so it checks all my boxes! The ultimate test for me was my period week where my skin becomes dull (and I'm in definite need of some pampering and TLC!). I used it twice in that week and could see it was helping my skin! 😍 Take that period week skin!  (Random Fact: I always lament my skin looks dull during my period but Chris always says 'it looks the same' 🤔😭 Does it mean that I'm always glowing or I'm just always dull?) That aside, I did see a difference even when I wasn't on my period and have happily been using it for the last month or so now.   Skinfood Saviour Creme I admit, I have a running cycle of changing moisturisers. Generally that's the one product I purchase to test out a brand - if I don't like the moisturiser on my face, I can repurpose it as a hand or body cream. Might just be me though 😂  So I wasn't too worried about this step. My skin does get a flaky during winter and sometimes when I apply foundation, I can see that it doesn't quite sit right because of my dry skin - so I wanted to combat that.  What is it? A heroic three-in-one bioflavonoid moisturiser infused with antioxidant-rich Kale, resveratrol-rich Lingonberries and protein-packed Chia Seeds. This potent and luxurious cell regenerating crème contains no mineral oil or silicones, making it a rarity in the world of moisturisers. This new generation superfood moisturiser is also blended with a trinity of skin rescuing ingredients - Squalane, Hyaluronic Acid and CoQ10, that cocoon your skin in moisture while reversing the damage caused by environmental free radicals. The result? Firmer, younger and visibly improved skin. The Verdict Routine Step: At night, just before bed. The ultimate test is - does it absorb fast enough before I get lured into bed? 😂  I was previously using Peach & Lily's Matcha Antioxidant Pudding which I surprisingly loved. I might write a review for that one day! Rooki's Superfood Saviour Creme feels amazing. It's very moisturising without the heavy feeling and I wake up the next day with really soft, plump and glowing skin. It sinks and absorbs really nicely into the skin as well! I hate having to wait for my moisturisers to absorb into my skin, since it's the my last step (and I'm literally, two steps away from my bed lol). Overall Rooki Beauty Thoughts I really love this brand and all their products so far. Starting this trial, I wasn't sure if I was going to incorporate their products into my daily routine. The products are pricier than other skincare brands so I wasn't sure if they would be worth to be in my routine.  However after using the products for a month (or more!), I can safely say I'm pretty in love with their products and they'll have permanent spots in my routine 😍 Rooki's research, ethos and philosophy really shows in their amazing products. We're really excited to see this brand grow!
